Killer Drinks (And Vibes) Abound At House Of Wax
Why not celebrate Halloween by osmosis this year, after work among realistic waxwork sculptures of anatomy and death? True story: Steps from The Wheeler, and across from Alamo Drafthouse, you’ll find House of Wax, a curious bar with an inventive cocktail list and an authentic wax figure exhibition.
The drinks — like Horse’s Neck and Lolita Nymph — are a well-mixed nod to the objets d’art (if you will) displayed in glass cases around the dark bar, most of which were curated from a traveling show called Castan’s Panopticum that dates back to 1869 Berlin.
No table is spared from shock and horror, with realistic displays of the human body and anatomically correct depictions of what could go wrong artfully placed in every corner of this spooky establishment. Happy Halloween, indeed.
