Pull Your Home Together With The Artisanal Home Goods At The Primary Essentials

Lauren Snyder opened The Primary Essentials four years ago, figuring that the neighborhood could use “a good home store with personality.” And that is precisely what she delivered: The carefully curated shop is stocked with thick quilts, hand thrown ceramics, soy candles, fine jewelry and hard-to-find coffee table books from independent designers and local artisans. Also delivering on the personality bit: Her wire fox terrier, Otis, who gave us a cheerful bark as we perused the goods.

WHAT IS A PRIMARY ESSENTIAL?
Things people can use in their everyday lives. And gift other people.

IT’S JANUARY. WHAT SHOULD WE BUY NOW TO CHEER US (AND OUR HOME) UP?
Any of the ceramics by Natalie Weinberger or Clam Lab.

WHY DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN?
The people. And how central we are to all the residential neighborhoods.
